Teaching

Since 2001 I have developed and delivered original courses in a wide range of film, media, and art related subjects including: field audio for production, cinematography and lighting, introductory and advanced digital cinema production, writing for the screen, preproduction, postproduction, and nonfiction filmmaking.  In addition to these, I also have conducted countless arts workshops in building social connection and communication, and engaging art in the study of large systems.

I have taught at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) (2004-2018), School of Visual Arts (SVA) (2000-2005) in the Dept of Film and Television, and the Pratt Institute (2019-). I’ve been a visiting lecturer at the SVA MFA Photo/Video/Related Media Dept, Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and CineInstitute - the only film school in Haiti.  I have also conducted workshops and seminars around the world, including at the Chancellor’s College in Zomba, Malawi, and at Dhaka University in Bangladesh.

At RISD, I also was thesis advisor to senior degree projects in Open Media - an interdisciplinary track of media artists working in film, video, installation, research, and experimental forms - and Post-Production Supervisor, coordinating, teaching, and overseeing the postproduction, finishing, delivery, and exhibition preparation for ~40 short form films and animation projects each year.
